Justice for Rigsby: Why Isn't Media Focusing on the Victim?

I've been following the horrific story of Rigsby, an adorable dog and beloved family pet from the San Antonio area, who met a terrible end recently.

His dedicated supporters have mounted an online awareness campaign including a petition for justice in this case which I urge all readers to sign.

Media coverage of this story has been mostly local, and revolves around the sensational angle of the suspect who claims to be a werewolf. I find this almost as disturbing as the crime itself.

What about the victim, Rigsby, and his grieving family? Why is their story being lost in the mix? Why are the police not issuing updates about their investigation? What action is being taken?

These are just some of the questions that I think the public should be aware of so I'm looking into them now, with the help of the good folks at RigsbyJustice.net. Stay tuned for further updates.

My regular late night dinner guests ~ I guess the guy on the right wasn't thrilled with the Cat Chow cuisine tonight.

Sitting Pretty

I spotted this little guy enjoying a shady ledge on a mirrored building near the Buena Vista Library the other day.

Remembering Gussie

Seven years ago today, my little Gussie went to the Rainbow Bridge.

I miss her.

Ani A.P.B.

A precious member of our family has been missing since September 19th - this is an urgent all points bulletin!

Our Ani is a 1.5-year-old, black/white, domestic longhair cat - here is a recent photo, taken on her one-year adoptiversary with one of her favorite toys, a SLC keychain from Auntie Fifi:

Ani was last seen in Burbank, Calif., at her home on Lincoln St. near Victory Blvd. and Buena Vista St.  She was wearing a flea collar with no ID tag at the time.

We have been diligently searching for her by walking the area calling for her, checking the shelters, pet hospitals and local vet offices, distributing flyers to neighbors and local businesses.  I can't tell you how kind and supportive everyone has been during the search - thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Ani knows her backyard well, and the general vicinity, but may have been disoriented during the recent rains.  She is a human-friendly cat, and we believe that an animal-loving good samaritan may have taken her in, and thinking she was a stray, decided to keep her.

But she does have a home, with us, and we love and miss her very much.

Update 3/17/2008 ~ Sadly, Ani has not returned home as of this update.  Wherever she is, I hope that she's safe and happy.  As the months have gone by, hope has dwindled but we still love her and would love to be reunited.  Please, if you have any information about her whereabouts, contact me at the information listed above.  Thank you.
