Premio Dardos, translated from Spanish meaning Prize Dart, is the web award meme sensation that's sweeping the nation! And now I'm one of the latest cool kids to receive it, courtesy of friend and fellow blogger, Allan Ellenberger at Hollywoodland. Behold....
Thank you, Allan!
The official proclamation goes like this:
“The Dardos Award is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing. These stamps were created with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers, a way of showing affection and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web.”
Love it. First of all, there's no website connected to the award image, so it's not some commercial promotional gimmick. Also, it's way more refreshing than the now tiresome "What (fill in the blank) are you?" memes that have been circulating for years. Plus it gives us all a chance to shine a well-deserved spotlight on blogger friends who each make the world wide web a lot brighter.
There are rules, of course, but ones I can live with because they serve the purpose of "paying it forward" among fellow bloggers who deserve pats on the back, and it creates some excellent linking opportunities. I spent way too much time clicking links to sites I never would have found otherwise after Googling "Premio Dardos" this morning. Lots of great writing out there!
The Rules:
1. Accept the award by posting it on your blog along with the name of the person that has granted the award and a link to his/her blog.
2. Pass the award to another five blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgement, remembering to contact each of them to let them know they have been selected for this award.
3. Those who accept the award, should pass it on to five other cultural, ethical, literary, and cool blogs.
I chose seven because I like to color outside the lines of life:
Xavier Castillo: Xavierism
Michael Gerber: Perspective is Everything
Harry Martin: Pro Homemaker
Frank Murphy: Frank Murphy Dot Com
Joe Taylor: A Taylor Made Life
Daniel Thompson: Rodan: The Most Shocking Name
Carla Valderrama: Life and Legend of Carole Lombard
Fellow Premio Dardos recipient, Chrissy, who blogs at Spectrum Hope, was as curious as the rest of us regarding the origins of this meme. Thankfully, she posted her intrepid research, saving us the homework. No one has been able to trace back to who created it and when, but Chrissy clues us in to some interesting factoids including approximately when it jumped from Spanish to English language sites.
Congratulations on your Premio Dardos acknowledgement! You've got a terrific blog here. I'll be sure to visit again soon. Thanks for stopping by Spectrum Hope, it means a lot to me.
