Walter and I went to see Latin Jazz great, Poncho Sanchez, at Hollywood & Highland on Tuesday night. It was part of the Tuesdays at 7pm free concert series running there now through August 26, called "Wine & Jazz Summer 08."
Poncho Sanchez in action at Hollywood & Highland
We LOVE Poncho! This was our second concert experience with him, having enjoyed his performance a couple years ago at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. The open air atmosphere of Hollywood & Highland made the music seem all the more free flowing, it that's possible. It was amazing and while there was a good crowd, it wasn't claustrophobic.
Walter, your wine and jazz tour guide
As the series title states, there's jazz AND wine. For a $10 per person donation, benefiting Project Angel Food, we each got two glasses of wine and some cheese, crackers and fruit catered by Wolfgang Puck. They even validate parking, but as luck would have it we found a spot right out on Hollywood Blvd., a true miracle that time of day.
Speaking of the good crowd and wine, spirits were truly high as folks were dancing in the aisles. And I mean dancing, like they knew what they were doing. Fun to watch and even more fun to join in on.
Fred Langley cuts the cement with a fellow concert-goer
We met a darling gentleman named Fred Langley. He was teaching all the youngsters how to move their feet with style, and I snapped a few photos of him because he was too adorable.
When I told him I don't know how to dance to jazz, he took my hands and said "follow me, and don't let go!" I did, and I didn't. "Look at you, girl, you're dancing," Fred cheered. He was right. For once, I didn't move like Elaine from "Seinfeld." I would like to go back for more concerts there just to see him again.

I *SO* need to move! To where all the fun stuff is! Happy 4th!
