I enjoy spending time exploring cemeteries, reading and photographing headstones of celebrities and civilians alike, and learning about the lives and deaths of these so-called "permanent residents" of the graveyards and mausoleums. This blog chronicles those experiences.

One of the cemeteries I'm most interested in these days is Grand View Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif. I wrote about its legal problems for the LA Daily News' community hub, ValleyNews.com from August 2006 to December 2008, when Valley News ceased operations. In response to reader requests to have one central source of information, I created and continue to maintain Grand View Memorial Park (dot) Info.
"We've gotten a front-row seat to all the twists and turns taking place at the beleaguered cemetery, Grand View Memorial Park, from an intrepid citizen journalist named Lisa Burks." ~ Jason Kandel, ValleyNews.com Editor, 12/28/2006

dear lisa
thanks again for all the info. one thing that is hard for me to comprehend is all the hype about visiting the grave of mj.
there are many other celebrities who are visited by fans namely elvis presley etc
why is forest lawn so strict about visiting the dead ? they seem to treat dead celebrities as if they were still alive.
i know of no cemetery that is so paranoid about visiting the graves of notables.
as a further note - why is the freedom mausoleum open to the public ? there are celebrities there as well ie g burns nat king cole gracie allen.
if they impose rules they should be consistent across the board

dear lisa
i wrote to you sometime ago but received no reply. im now reading the flc guidelines for mj annniversary please answer this simple question
ù
why is it that flc treats dead celebrities as if they are still alive ^ posing all the restrictions leads me to believe that they are not aware that visiting dead celebrities does not put them at risk
please note that visitors are allowed to see elvis etc

Ciao Lisa,
tutto bene?
