Next Limited Visitation: Sunday, June 17
Grand View Memorial Park will next be open for a City of Glendale-sponsored limited visitation on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, 2007 from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Gates open at 12 noon and close to incoming traffic at 3:45 p.m. The cemetery closes precisely at 4 p.m. City staff and park rangers will be on hand to assist you by answering questions, looking up gravesites in an alphabetical listing of interments and directing you to the proper location.
All buildings on the property including the mausoleums are locked down and inaccessible to the public (even if you have family entombed there) due to an on-going preservation order.
There is currently no running water at the cemetery, so be sure to bring your own bottled water supply if you wish to fill flower holders or wash headstones.
The conditions at Grand View are extremely dry, so smoking and lighting of incense is prohibited for fire prevention reasons.
For a complete list of guidelines, please read the city's online visitation rules sheet before arriving to the cemetery. A current version of the rules are also handed out to everyone who enters the park.
Grand View Memorial Park is a privately-owned business that has been closed for regular operations since June 13, 2006. Limited visitation periods are made available by the city as a community service to those needing access to visit loved ones' gravesites.
The cemetery is located at 1341 Glenwood Rd. between Sonora St. and Grand View Ave. in Glendale.
The Glendale City Council is scheduled to reassess the need and feasibility for limited visitations on future dates during their June 26th meeting. Stay tuned to this website for further updates.
The limited visitation schedule may change on short notice. For more information visit the city of Glendale website or call its hotline at (818) 548-6464 before visiting Grand View.
